I do my best thinking in the shower

Two people told me today that they do their best thinking while they were in the shower.

If I did my best thinking in the shower, I’d be pretty darn clean because I’d double or triple the number of showers I take. It’s such an easy thing to do, why not take a shower every time you need to ponder something.

Where do you do your best thinking? Is there any way to expand that time? Could you recreate the mind state of when you’re at your best? What about that place makes it so conducive to thinking?

Is there any way you could take a shower all the time?

  1. Sadly, I seem to do my best thinking when I’m trying to go to sleep. This is bad for two reasons. First, it is much harder to fall asleep if I’m thinking. Second, I never remember all the great things I thought of by the time I wake up in the morning.

  2. I actually have a thought!
Have you ever heard what Salvador Dali did? He would fall asleep in a chair while holding a silver spoon over a tin tray. As he entered REM sleep, he would drop the spoon and surprised by the clatter, he would spring awake. That way he could remember his dreams.
I have similar problem. I have found that naps help. I never really get all the way asleep.
